The match day report laid against Gold Coast SUNS defender Nick Malceski has been thrown out by the Match Review Panel.
Malceski was charged for engaging in rough conduct against the Brisbane Lions’ Daniel Rich in the first quarter of Saturday’s 26-point win over Brisbane.
The Lions’ Reuben William had possession of the ball and handballed in front of his teammate Rich. Rich was moving to the ball with Malceski coming towards him from an angle, to make a contest for the ball. Malceski had his hands down in a bid to pick up the ball while Rich was also leaning forwards towards the ball. Rich took possession and contact was made between the two players.
It was the view of the panel that Malceski was contesting the ball and did not have an alternative way to contest the ball. No further action was taken.
Meanwhile, Lions captain Tom Rockliff can accept a $1000 sanction with an early guilty plea after being charged by the MRP with striking Aaron Hall in the first quarter of the game. The incident was classed as intentional conduct with low impact to the body.
