There were smiles all round this morning as the Gold Coast SUNS helped launch the fifth annual White Christmas Charity Event at Movie World.
Earmarked the biggest event on the club’s community calendar, the winter wonderland provides a magical night filled with fun, food and entertainment for over 3,000 of Gold Coast’s neediest people.
The night promises to return even bigger on December 11, with the entire playing list to be in attendance.
Speaking to SUNS TV at the official event launch on Tuesday morning, Gold Coast defender Trent McKenzie said he was looking forward to giving back to the club’s ten-nominated charity groups in youth homelessness, respective & responsibility and the city’s north growth corridor.
“It’s always exciting, especially down here at Movie World. It’s the fifth year so it’s something small for the club to do so we don’t mind helping out at all where we can,” McKenzie said.
“The boys love a bit of a dance. We’ve got the parade when we come through here and then finish off with a few rides so it’s a good night.
“The boys have fun.”
Community Programs Manager – Corey Bell, welcomed the event into 2014, which has already seen $200,000 raised to the White Christmas Charity Fund in its four year existence.
“This year White Christmas Charity Event will provide a magical Christmas experience for over 3,500 people at Movieworld for 3 hours where they get to enjoy the rides, spend one on one time with the Gold Coast SUNS players, enjoy a complimentary dinner, transport and even a photo with Santa,” he said.
“We’re looking forward to coming together with the Gold Coast Community Fund and Movie World, and helping those Gold Coasters a little less fortunate enjoy Christmas.”

White Christmas Stocking Fund
As well as providing a little Christmas cheer for families in need at our White Christmas, we want to do as much as we can for many other struggling Gold Coast families this Christmas.
You can help us do this by donating to the White Christmas Stocking Fund which will run from 11th November until Christmas eve 2014.
100% of the funds raised are distributed to needy families on the Gold Coast and Gold Coast charities.
