The Gold Coast SUNS put in a dominant display against the GWS Giants on Saturday afternoon, running away with a 40-point win with each player on the field contributing to the victory.

Tom Lynch kicked a career-high five goals in a five-star performance, plucking five contested marks inside 50 to accompany his 17 possessions.

The SUNS midfield fired on Saturday with Dion Prestia leading the way with 32 disposals. Jaeger O’Meara had 30 touches, 10 tackles and seven inside 50’s while David Swallow racked up 26 possessions and nine clearances.

Gary Ablett put in another classy performance tallying 30 disposals (21 contested), 12 clearances, 11 tackles and two goals. The skipper also put his hand up for goal of the year with this outstanding effort.

There were plenty of other contributors with Danny Stanley, Jarrod Harbrow, Matt Shaw and Kade Kolodjashnij all getting plenty of the footy. Aaron Hall had his best game of 2014 while Steven May performed superbly on Jeremy Cameron despite conceding four goals to the 2013 All-Australian full forward.

In Round 5, Gary Ablett extended his lead in the GC SUNS Fans Player of the Year with the captain now sitting on 126 votes, well clear of David Swallow on 99 votes. Steven May (42 votes), Dion Prestia (32 votes) and Michael Rischitelli (25 votes) round out the top five.
