O'Meara's great year supported by Official AFL Player Ratings
Gold Coast SUNS dynamo Jaeger O'Meara was already the hot favourite for the NAB AFL Rising Star Award, and now the Official AFL Player Ratings, brought to you by Vero, have confirmed him best-performed debutant this season so far.
O'Meara has played every game for the SUNS in 2013 and has gathered 208 possessions, taken 42 marks and booted eight goals.
This has equated to 100.2 player ratings points, 4.1 more than the second-best debutant, Port Adelaide's Ollie Wines.
O'Meara's consistently good performances have seen him race up the overall ratings table.
He is currently rated the 463rd-best player in the competition.
Wines, who has collected 207 possessions, taken 43 marks and booted four goals this year, is hot on O'Meara's heels at No. 469 overall.
Collingwood's mature-age star Sam Dwyer has also surged up the ratings table after earning 87.3 points in his nine games so far this season.
Dwyer, who has picked up 155 possessions and booted nine goals, is currently No. 481.
Former steeplechaser Mark Blicavs, who has played every game for Geelong this season, is also among the top 10 debutants.
The mobile ruckman has earned 79.2 points and currently sits at No. 493 in the overall standings.
Interestingly, Blicavs is now rated as the 27th-best player at the Cats and the 34th-best ruckman in the competition.
Nick Vlastuin's stunning performances since making his debut for Richmond in round five have seen him amass the seventh-highest score of all debutants despite playing only six games.
