It was a day to remember and a stand out performance from Aaron Hall who provided a series of exciting highlights around the goals as the Gold Coast SUNS small-forward finished with a career-high five goals in the side’s spirited 26-point loss to Hawthorn at the MCG.

“It was great to get my hands on the contested football and be able to get a job done for the team, it was great to be able to test ourselves against the form side in the premiership. ” Hall said.

The 22-year-old speedster was in rare form against the high-flying Hawks, the lively goal-sneak managed to collect 15 possessions across half-forward – it was his 100% scoring efficiency that will likely received plenty of praise by team-mates and coaching staff at next week's Game Review meeting.

Speaking exclusively with goldcoastfc.com.au, Hall said the Gold Coasters will take a great deal of confidence from their competitive effort against the Hawks and will likely be used to fuel the playing group’s hunger when they once again board the flight down south to take on Geelong at Simond’s Stadium next week.

"It was pleasing that as a team we came out strong against a side many consider to be the best in the competition and while we're obviously disappointed not to have been able to carry on and get the job done, we will certainly take a lot out of the match and be better for the experience."

With the GC SUNS leading goal-kicker Charlie Dixon (ankle injury), Zac Smith (ACL) Karmichael Hunt (hamstring) and star mid-fielder Harley Bennell all absent from todays match, Hall’s five-goal performance was exactly what the Gold Coasters required as they look to test and continue their development during a tough month of premiership football.

The Tasmanian products performance likely to see him receive plenty of extra attention during next weekends match away to Geelong.

“It’s certainly going to another great test for us next weekend against the Cats, but we will regroup and prepare the best we can and hopefully our performance will be just a little bit better again."  Hall said.
