Round 20 proved costly on the injury front for the Gold coast SUNS.

The GC SUNS will be forced to make at least three changes at the selection table this weekend, with Nathan Bock, Sam Day and Alex Sexton all set to miss with injury.

Nathan Bock will meet with a specialist later in the week to determine the appropriate course of action to remove the rod in his leg and in doing so will miss the final three games of the season. While Alex Sexton will have reconstructive surgery on his AC joint and will also miss the remainder of the year.

However, Sam Day is a chance to return before season’s end after scans revealed he has sustained a minor hamstring strain. Day is likely to miss 1-2 weeks and is expected to  be available for the side’s Round 23 clash against Greater Western Sydney at Metricon Stadium.

Ruckman Tom Nicholls remains a chance to return to the senior team, but will need to complete training on Wednesday to be passed fit.

One man who wont make the trip to Adelaide is Matt Shaw. Shaw was a late withdrawal from last weekends match against Melbourne with a virus. His condition was subsequently diagnosed as appendicitis. Shaw underwent surgery on Monday, and could return to the seniors for the round 23 clash against the giants.
