Following a busy three weeks at AFL House, AFL.com.au’s Damien Barrett, Peter Ryan and Matt Thompson sat down to analyse each of the 18 team’s movements over the free agency and exchange period – find out why they believe the Gold Coast SUNS are eyeballing future success for years to come.
“It’s a great effort for them, three years into the competition, to already have a list in shape where they can afford to have a quiet period, deliberately,” Ryan said.
“They have the best player in the game… (and) got a compo pick for the third round off West Coast, so it was a good effort from Scott Clayton.”
With the playing group determined to continue to improve in 2014 the Gold Coast’s coaching staff is expecting plenty if upside from its playing list over the summer.
“They are building towards a finals position. Finals would be a really good result for the GC SUNS and that is what they are aiming to do," Ryan said.
