In the lead up to the Gold Coast Football Club’s debut in the 2011 AFL season - ‘Footy Week’ will hit the Coast next month offering locals a nine-day calendar full of Aussie Rules events.
From Thursday March 4th to Sunday March 14th, GCFC’s Footy Week will boast two NAB Cup Matches, GCFC open training sessions and Auskick Clinics run by Gold Coast Football Club Players.
Spectators are also invited to watch local corporates, celebrities and VIP’s in a Corporate Rec Challenge at Southport AFC, followed by the clubs first ever fan membership forum.
Local community, fans and members are encouraged to come meet the club and the coaches and find out about the players, memberships and the new stadium which will be home to the Gold Coast Football Club in 2011.
GCFC CEO Travis Auld said a critical element in building the Gold Coast Football Club is establishing and maintaining a community connection.
“With two NAB Cup matches at one of the powerhouses of regional footy, Southport AFC – Its a great opportunity for the community to get behind AFL on the Coast.
“The Club was born through the help and support of the Gold Coast and activities such as the Fan Membership and Youth Leadership Forum gives the Club a chance to give back and establish a strong connection with the community.
“With nearly a year before we debut in the AFL, The Gold Coast Football Club is gaining momentum and shaping up to be the most exciting football club in Australia.
On Thursday March 11th, schools also have the opportunity to attend a Youth Leadership Forum at Griffith University where they’ll be exposed to a host of top line speakers including GCFC Chairman John Witheriff, Assistant Coach Shaun Hart and Andy Gourlay from Red Frogs.
The two NAB Cup Matches will be held on Friday March 5th and Friday March 12th at Southport AFC with team confirmation taking place the Monday prior.
