The Gold Coast Football Club head to Melbourne this weekend chasing a top 4 spot, knowing that September finals action is secured.
A hostile Princes Park, home to the Gippsland Power will greet them on Sunday and the chance to leap frog the Power into second place is a real possibility for the Gold Coast.

Back in October of 2008, Guy McKenna was given the task of moulding a group of talented youngsters from all across Queensland into a tight-knit outfit capable of matching it with the best youngsters from across Australia in the TAC Cup.

McKenna and the rest of the coaching staff’s hard work has paid off with the Gold Coast Football Club hitting form at the right time and are looking to continue their momentum into their inaugural finals tilt.

The Gold Coast has won 4 of its last 5 games and will travel with almost a full playing list to choose from.

McKenna will have vivid memories of their round 6 meeting at Carrara where the Gold Coast prevailed by two points.

That two point win will give the Gold Coast great confidence heading into Sunday’s clash.

One more win in their last two games will prove to McKenna that the Gold Coast Football Club will play a pivotal role in September’s finals action.

The Gold Coast Football Club will play their final home game for 2009 next Saturday 29th August 1:00pm at Carrara. They will play the current leaders Geelong Falcons. Admission is free.
