The Gold Coast SUNS have secured a first round draft pick, selection 13, in a deal that will see Tom Hickey join the St Kilda Football Club.

The GC SUNS have traded draft selections 26, 47 & Hickey to the Saints in exchange for draft selections 13, 37 & 57.

GC SUNS General Manager - Football Operations, Marcus Ashcroft said the deal significantly improved the clubs position heading into the draft to be held on the Gold Coast in November.

We were really keen to gain a selection back inside the top 15 since exchanging our first round draft selection for the extremely talented Jack Martin through the trade incentive draft.

Our ability to add pick 13 to our selections in the upcoming draft means we will have the ability to draft another elite young player to our club next month.

Hickey played 12 games for the GC SUNS after making his debut against the Adelaide Crows in Round 22, 2011.

Originally recruited from Morningside, Hickey informed the club at seasons end of his desire to move to Victoria to be with his long term partner.
