Three more Gold Coast SUNS will make their debut against the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

South Australian’s Daniel Gorringe and Michael Coad and Tasmanian Maverick Weller will make their debut in the GC SUNS first match in Melbourne.

Weller hails from Burnie in Tasmania’s industrial north.

He’s a supremely fit, tough, fiercely competitive and hard working midfielder.

An AIS/AFL squad member, he arrived at the GC SUNS after several standout performances as a 16-year old with Tasmania at the National Championships in 2009.

At 27 years of age, Michael Coad is as close as it gets to a footballing Cinderella story. Considered somewhat of a superstar in the SANFL – he finished second in Sturt’s best and fairest in 2009.

He was invited to train with the GC SUNS at the end of 2009 and his exceptional training ethic, consistency in the SANFL, and more than useful versatility saw him taken with the club’s second pick in the 2009 AFL Rookie Draft.

At 192cm and 88kg, Coad is big enough to take on key position responsibilities and athletic enough to rotate just about anywhere else.

South Australian Daniel Gorringe is a mobile ruckman blessed with fantastic ball-winning skills.

He was taken by the GC SUNS at Pick 10 at the 2010 National Draft.

Widely considered one of the best performed players at the 2010 National Championships, Gorringe, showed tremendous nous and deft touch in ruck contests against bigger opponents and proved himself a terrific disposer of the ball around the ground.
