As part of the build up on the Gold Coast for the Gold Coast Marathon, the Gold Coast SUNS this week attended the launch Get Active Gold Coast month at the Gold Coast Convention Centre.
Get Active Gold Coast month is a city wide event that aims to assist in getting Gold Coasters, more active, more often.
Gold Coast SUNS players Alik Magin and Roland Achee were on hand to talk about the clubs exciting new SHINE Schools program which encourages students who participate in the program to be Healthy and Active.
The exciting part of the program for students, is that Magin and 14 of his team mates actually deliver the program in schools across the Gold Coast.
Gold Coast SUNS Community Program Manager Corey Bell said” The Gold Coast SUNS are excited to be part of the launch of Get Active Gold Coast month”.
“The club have been proactive in this area, launching the SHINE schools program in early 2011, which will see well over 2000 young participants learn first hand about being Healthy and Active”.
Each of the participants that take part in the 4 week program receives a 24 page colour workbook that becomes a diary for students to continue to use well after they have completed the program.
