SUNS standing 10,000 members strong
On the eve of the 2013 season, the Gold Coast army have risen to the call, with the club officially breaking through the 10,000 members milestone.
Over 10,000 members have committed and are set to take their seat at Metricon Stadium, throwing their valued support behind the players as they prepare to enter into their third premiership campaign.
While the current membership tally is on course to surpass the 2012 membership total of 11,204, GC SUNS CEO Travis Auld believed it was a strong indication that the club had established a positive relationship with the wider Gold Coast community.
“I want to thank all our fans who have shown their support for the club by jumping on board as members in what promises to be an exciting year for the SUNS at Metricon Stadium,” said Auld.
“We’ve spent a good part of the past four years establishing an emotional connection with the community, largely by giving more than what we expect back,” he said.
But while the club is expecting an increased number of local memberships ahead of the GC SUNS season opener against St. Kilda, Auld is urgently calling for fans to support the club in a membership capacity in an effort to increase the figure closer to 15,000 as the club pushes towards the goal of 20-ONE-3.
“Our 20-ONE-3 strategic visions starts with 20,000 members because we need the support of our local community in order to compete against the AFL powerhouse clubs across the competition,” Auld said.
“We want our players to have the best available resources so that they can maximise their full potential and achieve success on-field... we believe by doing this members and fans will see significant improvement on-field and will no doubt start voting with their feet.”
