It’s been two weeks since the announcement of Karmichael Hunt’s recruitment by the Gold Coast Football Club. Karmichael speaks with goldcoastfc.com.au on life since his shock announcement on his move to AFL next year:

Q. Karmichael, it has been a few weeks since the announcement, has it all settled down for you?
A.Yes it has settled down, the first week after I made the announcement was a bit hectic you know alot of attention on the subject but it’s just been business as usual for me at the Broncos just obviously playing football, but the reaction from my inner sanctum and my closest teammates has been pretty well received so that’s good.

Q. So has there been alot of support from your own fans, plenty of feedback?
A. Yeah alot of support, from Broncos fans, personal fans and so its all been positive. I think overall the other teams I have played against there has been a positive reaction. All the boys seem pretty happy with my decision and I guess I can’t wait to see how it goes.

Q. That’s good, from a club point of view we have received heaps of messages of support from our own members who can’t wait till you get down there. Have you got a message to them?
A. Thank you for the support I guess, just as you are excited about me coming down there I am more excited about being part of the side and I really can’t wait till my time rolls around, start getting involved in training, moving down the Gold Coast and being a part of the Gold Coast team.

Q. So you will relocate to the Gold Coast and live down the Gold Coast?
A. Definitely, I will relocate with my girlfriend.

Q. Are you going to take up Surfing?
A. I think I might try, I guess I might get time to learn and plus there is that culture down there so I will have to get involved in it.

Q. You recently had a kick of the Sherrin at Broncos training and that vision has seemed to go all over the place, you weren’t taking it seriously were you?
A. Definitely not, I actually knew before I kicked that ball when I was mucking around that the media would actually use that, so it’s quite funny what the media will use to make you look good or in that case look bad, so it’s quite hilarious to be honest.

Q. So any more news on what you plan to do between now and May?
A. Nothing in concrete as yet, my manager is still sourcing whether I can get a deal overseas, but my focus is till finishing the season off at the Broncos as best as we can, we have four more regular games in the season, fingers crossed if we succeed in the majority of those games then we will be playing finals football which is our goal

Thanks and good luck for the rest of the season.
