The Gold Coast has this week seen hundreds of up and coming junior players as teams from 8 regions battle it out as part of the State Under 14 championships at Broadbeach FC.

Gold Coast SUNS player Tom Hickey, who came through the AFL Queensland Talent pathway, was on hand to speak to players about his journey before presenting medallions and the winning trophy at the end of the Grand final.

Hickey himself was a player that took part in Under 18 State championships, a similar pathway many of these will hopefully progress through in the next few years.

And the future looks bright with some fantastic games of football over the 5 days which in the end saw Brisbane North region the Northern Raiders take out their first ever State Championship title over the Country Kookaburras.
