“George injured his midfoot in the intraclub game before the season recommenced,” he said.

“He’s done really well through his rehab, progressed nicely and has been back training for a couple of weeks now.”

“He’ll join the team in their scratch match on Friday.”

Young defender Jez McLennan had a slight set back after playing consistently in the SUNS scratch matches in recent weeks.

“Jez had a low grade hamstring injury after the game on the weekend, so he’ll be 2-3 weeks in the rehab group.”

“He’s started off really positively, he was back running today, so we’ll work through the rehabilitation phases with Jez and see him back in the next couple of weeks.”

Speaking earlier today, General Manager Football Operations Jon Haines also provided an update on key defender Rory Thompson.

“Rory will go in for surgery next week,” Haines said.

“They’ll have a look during the surgery. It's a partial tear in terms of diagnosis off the scan so they’ll have a look at it, once they’re in there having a look around if they deem it needs a reconstruction they’ll do it there and then if it doesn’t they’ll take another path.”
