After becoming the ‘home of AFL’ in 2020, Metricon Stadium on the Gold Coast will continue to shine with key footy events taking place over the next two Saturdays.
Saturday, 17 October from 9.30-11.30am, footy fans will be able to come to Metricon Stadium and see the 2020 Toyota AFL Premiership Cup and have a photo taken with it. This will be the only chance to see the Cup on the Gold Coast.
The visit is part of the official 2020 Toyota AFL Premiership Cup tour that has taken the famous silverware around Queensland ahead of the historic Grand Final at the Gabba.
Entry is via Gate 6 (on the Western Side of the Stadium) and car parking available on site in the Red Car Park. Bookings are not required and COVID contract tracing protocols will be followed to ensure public safety.
Metricon Stadium will also play a key role on Grand Final day (Saturday, 24 October) hosting one of the FREE live regional sites.
The Metricon Stadium live site will run from 4.00-10.00pm and includes an Auskick clinic for the kids from 4.15pm, MC, music, security and food stalls.
The game will be broadcast uninterrupted on the big screen from 5.30pm until completion.
Gold Coast SUNS CEO Mark Evans said it will be a family friendly environment to watch the Grand Final with other passionate footy fans.
“For the first time, the AFL Grand Final will be played at night, which creates a great opportunity to grab a picnic blanket and watch the game on TV while sitting on the oval at Metricon Stadium,” he said.
“It will be an enjoyable and unique experience, regardless of whether your team is playing and I encourage everyone to come along and enjoy this special event.”
Guests attending the Metricon Stadium live site are required to redeem a FREE ticket to facilitate recording of their details for COVID-19 tracing.
FREE tickets are available now through Ticketek.
