The Gold Coast SUNS can confirm that Captain Jarrod Witts will miss the remainder of the 2021 Toyota Premiership Season after scans confirmed a rupture of his ACL.
Witts came from the ground in the third quarter of the Round 3 game against Adelaide after his knee was trapped in an awkward position following up from a centre bounce.
“Jarrod has suffered a rupture of his ACL during that contest in the third quarter on Friday night and will miss the remainder of the 2021 season,” GM Football Jon Haines told the Qscan Injury Update.
“It’s unfortunate for Jarrod, but we know he’ll continue to lead the club as he has done in recent years.”
Forward Jacob Townsend had successful surgery on a facial fracture he suffered during a recent VFL practice match and is expected to be available in 5-6 weeks.
Key Forward Sam Day had surgery on his meniscus late last week after consultation with a specialist and although we expect him to be available later in the season there is no specific timeline on his return at this stage.
Connor Budarick had surgery on his ACL injury last week and will miss the remainder of the 2021 season.
