On Sunday evening the Gold Coast SUNS Academy hosted their annual awards night at Metricon Stadium, celebrating the achievements of each age group across the year.

Awards presented on the night included age group Player Of The Year for both male and female and the All Academy Team Of The Year. 

Plus, for the first time a North Queensland male and female Player Of The Year was awarded, as well as a Staff Member of the Year for the region, reflecting the growing impact the Academy is having in Mackay, Townsville, Rockhampton and Cairns. 

SUNS Academy Manager, Jason Torney said it was great to be able to bring 500 players, staff and families together after another COVID impacted year for the Academy.

“It was wonderful to be able to celebrate our year together, and recognised the achievements of our male and female age group winners and the All Academy Team”

“This year has thrown up a lot of different challenges, but as always we saw those effected take everything in their stride, and we thank the players and families for their flexibility in these circumstances.”

“This event is always a highlight of the Academy calendar.”
