On AFL's night of nights, the players we are used to seeing perform brilliantly on field looked dazzling off it as they walked the red carpet, ahead of the annual vote count.

I am very relaxed, I have spent half an hour at the bar upstairs so that has certainly helped me to relax.

When asked how he rated his chances, Ablett who's Gold Coast SUNS won just three games this season, was adamant he would be relying on his consistency to secure votes.

I thought I had a consistent year, there is no doubt we have had a challenging season but it's been a good eighteen months and I am enjoying my time up there.

The rumour mill had been in overdrive in regards to who would join Gary at the Brownlow, the SUNS skipper arriving with close friend Jason Davenport whom he spent considerable time dressing for the occasion.

I spent two hours dressing my mate Jason and about half an hour on myself.

Once inside, demand for the 2009 Brownlow winner was high as his odds for a second Brownlow medal shortened.
