Following the one-point loss to the Saints in Round 1, SUNS Media have taken a look at Gold Coast’s top AFL Fantasy performances.

Brayden Fiorini (MID - $678,000)

Fiorini top-scored for the SUNS with 114 points in a game in which he had 30 disposals, four tackles and four marks.

Despite only having 27 AFL games under his belt, the midfielder comes with a hefty price tag that is more than justified after reaching a Fantasy ton in the opening round.

Off-season list changes at the SUNS have presented Fiorini with the chance to play big midfield minutes and that could be the key to him being a consistent Fantasy performer.

Wil Powell (FWD - $307,000)

Powell rewarded the 2% of coaches who selected him in their Round 1 side when he scored 103 points.

The forward-turned-wingman spent plenty of time up the ground for his 23 touches, but it was his kick-to-handball ratio (17 kicks, six handballs) and seven marks which would have pleased Fantasy coaches the most.

If Powell keeps this form going, he’s set to generate more cash as the season goes on after already seeing a $40,000 increase after one game.

He provided incredible value this week, rating at $3,000 per point. In draft league formats, Powell could be a handy pickup this week and worthy of a stash on the bench.

Anthony Miles (MID - $447,000)

Miles entered the season as one of the more intriguing selections for Fantasy coaches as a mid-priced selection ($425,000 pre-Round 1) who had plenty of potential.

The proven ball-winner has averaged close to 90 in previous years, but after a relatively low-scoring JLT Series many coaches were unsure of whether he would get back to those heights.

Miles put those concerns to bed as he went on to score 96 points after collecting 24 touches and taking six marks.

Despite a $22,000 price increase, the midfielder still looms as a potential cash cow – something recognised by the 6% of Fantasy Classic coaches who currently own him. He’s owned by just over 50% of coaches in the Draft format, so could expect those numbers to rise further after his Round 1 output.

Darcy Macpherson (FWD - $461,000)

When Ben Ainsworth and David Swallow had their midfield minutes restricted, Macpherson was one player who stepped up and spent more time than expected on ball.

A team-high nine tackles went a long way to his final score of 96 points, while he also had 20 disposals.

Macpherson could be one for Fantasy coaches to monitor in the coming weeks, particularly if he continues to play further up the ground.
