Voting is now open for the first Tribal SV Performance Player of the Round for 2022.
The SUNS fell just short of an opening round victory in Mackay against the GWS GIANTS, but there were plenty of positives to take from the contest.
Captain Hannah Dunn led from the front throughout the contest in a new role down back, finishing with 10 disposals.
Two of only a handful of players to accrue more touches than the captain were Alison Drennan and Kalinda Howarth, who finished with 13 touches apiece with the latter taking a strong contested mark and kicking a first quarter goal.
The SUNS pressure was strong throughout the contest and was exemplified by the work of Jamie Stanton. A member of the leadership group, Stanton made a game-high 11 tackles to go with 11 possessions and three marks.
Livewire Kate Surman was also among the SUNS best in pressure areas, laying nine tackles.
Mackay local Lauren Bella played her role in the ruck making a game-high 27 hitouts.
