As the Commonwealth Games draws nearer, the SUNS are gearing up to relocate football operations to Bond University by March 5.
As part of the club’s move to Bond, the playing group will have access to state-of-the-art facilities including a newly renovated gym and full-size playing field.
“Our players & coaching staff will be based at Bond University in Robina, while our administration team will be just down the road at The Rocket Building, near Robina Town Centre,” SUNS CEO Mark Evans said.
“We still want to maintain face to face contact with our members and as such we will hold a number of open training sessions at Bond University.
“Members will be able to come along and watch training, meet the players and have any questions answered by our membership team.”
The SUNS are expected to be temporarily operating at the new base for 8 weeks while preparations are finalised and the Games take place.
In the meantime, Gold Coast will play at Riverway Stadium in Townsville for the JLT Community Series on March 4 against Geelong to prepare further for the 2018 AFL season.
“With footy not returning to Metricon Stadium until Saturday June 2, we hope to see all members supporting the team at the JLT Community Series game against the Brisbane Lions at Southport Sharks, on Sunday March 11,” Evans said.
“Both events are free for 2018 Members and will be a great way to kick start the upcoming season.”
