Scans have confirmed Gold Coast rebounding defender Lachie Weller has ruptured his ACL and will miss the remainder of the 2022 season.
Weller sustained the injury in the Round 12 victory over Hawthorn at TIO Stadium, after a change of direction at high speed in the final quarter.
Gold Coast SUNS General Manager of Football Performance Wayne Campbell said the club would consult with a specialist in the coming days to determine the best course of action.
“It’s really unfortunate news for Lachie who went in for scans this afternoon to determine the full extent of the injury, with the results showing he has torn the ACL in his right knee,” Campbell told the Qscan Injury Update.
“Lachie will now meet with a surgeon later in the week, before having an operation to repair the ligament.”
Key forward Levi Casboult missed the match against North Melbourne in Darwin with a calf complaint but, with a bye this week, is expected to be fit again for the club’s Round 14 match against Adelaide.
