There will be no shortage of support at the Gold Coast SUNS for 17 year old Jack Martin when he makes the move from Western Australia.

Martin will have the likes of David Swallow, Harley Bennell, Brandon Matera and Jaeger O'Meara around him, having all experienced relocating from Western Australia to the Gold Coast.

Martin is also likely to enjoy the support of his Dad, who is looking to move over, and he is delighted with the support network he will enjoy.

Definitely, they will be a good support for me being away from home, he said.

"The WA boys at the SUNS would have been through it and having them there will really help me with the move and being away from home."

I think Dad is going to try and see if he can get a place over here, just to come over and support me.

"He is a good support for me."

O'Meara in particular will be an excellent support for Martin, having been through the same process in 2012.

Martin said he will definitely sound out O'Meara, and believes the benefits for both himself and good friend

Jesse Hogan (who Melbourne selected at Number 2 in the Mini Draft) will be enormous.

"Jaeger was in the paper the other week saying he would help me through it as a 17 year old, and what will be expected of me," he said.

Getting to the club a year earlier ahead of the other 17 year old in the country, and learning what it is like to be at the elite level, and all the training and programs and everything that goes with it is a real plus for me. It's a big benefit.

At this stage, Martin is looking to relocate to the Gold Coast after the clubs annual pre-season training camp in Arizona, and Martin says Guy McKenna had a pretty clear message for him.

“Brace yourself, it is going to be pretty tough," he said.
