In this week’s Qscan Injury Update, we can unfortunately confirm that vice-captain Jamie Stanton will be unavailable for the remainder of AFLW Season Seven.
Stanton was sent for scans after leaving the field during the first quarter of Sunday’s Round 2 fixture against West Coast.
“We’ve had it confirmed with scanning that Jamie has sustained a full rupture of her ACL. That will unfortunately leave her unavailable for the rest of the season,” GC SUNS AFLW Physiotherapist Indianna Franke told the Qscan Injury Update.
GC SUNS Head of Women’s Football Fiona Sessarago says the club will fully support Stanton in her rehabilitation.
“It’s devastating news for Jamie who has been an integral part of the club’s AFLW program since our inaugural game,” Sessarago said.
“She’s a much-loved member of this squad and we will all be supporting her throughout her rehabilitation to see her return to the field stronger than ever.”
Fellow leadership group member Ellie Hampson missed the clash against West Coast after sustaining a quad injury at training in the lead-up to the game but is a possibility to return for Saturday’s QClash at the Gabba.
“Eliie’s had a really good week and she’ll be up for a test on Friday to see if she’s available to play on Saturday,” Franke added.
