A Gold Coast SUNS reserves team featuring just five listed players battled hard against Redland at Metricon Stadium before going down by 81 points.
With so many top-ups and academy players pulling on the red jumper, it was always going to be an uphill battle. Twelve Gold Coast players had 10 possessions or less and although the SUNS never stopped trying, they were never really in the game.
Clay Cameron had 24 disposals for the SUNS, while ruckman Tom Nicholls collected 22 to go with seven tackles. Rookie Cameron Loersch booted two goals for the home side.
