SUNS Academy prospect Jake Rogers put in a dominant showing in the AFL Academy’s four-point win over Carlton’s VFL side in Melbourne on Saturday.
Rogers, who trained with the club’s senior squad during the off-season, claimed the Academy Medal as the game’s best player with 26 disposals and four clearances and wasn’t the only SUNS prospect to impress under the Marvel Stadium roof.
Jed Walter had a strong first quarter and finished the contest with a goal, as did fellow tall Ethan Read who finished with five marks to his name in an impressive attacking display.
The AFL Academy led the Blues at every break before finishing on the right side of the ledger at the final siren in a 13.8 (86) to 13.4 (82) win.
The trio’s attention now turns to a potential U18 Boys National Championships with the Allies. Their opening clash is locked in against Western Australia at Thebarton Oval on Sunday, June 11.
