The Gold Coast SUNS will host its first home game of the 2023 AFLW Season on Saturday, September 9 at Heritage Bank Stadium.
The AFL today confirmed the fixture for the upcoming campaign, a 10-game home & away season, including four home games at Heritage Bank Stadium, commencing on the first weekend in September.
The SUNS will play its first home game at Heritage Bank Stadium against the West Coast Eagles in Round 2, a week after the season opener against Carlton at IKON Park on Saturday, September 2.
The 2023 AFLW QClash will be hosted on the Gold Coast at Heritage Bank Stadium with the Brisbane Lions set to visit on Saturday, October 14 as one of four SUNS home matches to be played at the venue.
Alongside the Eagles (Round 2) and Lions (Round 7), the SUNS also welcome the Western Bulldogs (Round 4) and GWS Giants (Round 9) to Heritage Bank Stadium.
The SUNS will once again host a fixture at Mackay’s Great Barrier Reef Arena, taking on Essendon in the final round of the home & away season. Date & start times for that match will be confirmed at a later date.
Away from Queensland, the SUNS will travel to Adelaide twice to face the Adelaide Crows at Unley Oval (Round 5) and Port Adelaide at Alberton Oval (Round 8) as well as three games in Melbourne against both the Blues (Round 1) and Tigers (Round 6) at IKON Park and a first ever meeting with Collingwood at Victoria Park in Round 3.
“We have five home matches, four of those to be played at Heritage Bank Stadium and the opportunity to play there in front of our home crowd is fantastic. We’re also really excited to be heading back to Mackay for the fourth time in Round 10,” GC SUNS Head of Women’s Football Fiona Sessarago said.
“To have a fixture now just makes that goal clearer while we’re training and putting in the hard yards during pre-season.”
GC SUNS AFLW Memberships are now available with game access packages available from $39 for Juniors, $69 for Adults and $179 for Families (2A+2J).
Ticketing on sale dates for individual matches will be confirmed shortly.
