Gary Ablett has declared himself ready to play, as the Gold Coast captain looks to repeat his sensational 2013 campaign.
Just seven days out from the side’s NAB Challenge opener against Essendon at Metricon Stadium, the dual Brownlow medallist is already planning his attack on the Bomber’s star-studded midfield.
It’s hard to imagine the game’s best player could get any better, but Ablett has enjoyed a smooth pre-season, that included a one-week trip to Gatorade’s leading sports testing facility in Florida.
Asked if he could benefit from the pre-season matches, Ablett’s response was simple – I’ll be playing.
"I'll be putting my hand up to play in the NAB challenge.
“I feel as I'm ready to go and it will be a great opportunity to have a full scale hit out here at Metricon Stadium."
The Gold Coast SUNS will bounce their 2014 preparations against the Bombers on Monday night, before travelling to Townsville to take on Brisbane six days later.
