The Gold Coast SUNS today celebrated National Harmony Day, spreading the word about positive relationships within the community.
In 2012, the Harmony Day theme sport - play, engage, inspire - recognises the important role and positive influence that sport has in our multicultural nation.
This morning Tom Nicholls along with club mascot Sunny Ray, ventured to the North Gold Coast region to visit one of the GC SUNS ten charities, the Oxenford and Coomera Community Centre as part of the Harmony Day celebrations in the region. Nicholls and Sunny Ray were welcomed by in excess of one hundred who attended this annual event.
The Open Day has been designed to assist those in this rapidly expanding region, with essential services and support.
This afternoon AFL Multicultural Ambassador Joel Wilkinson and team mate Josh Toy were greeted by hundreds of students from the Broadbeach State School as part of the schools assembly and Harmony Day celebrations.
Wilkinson elaborated on the positiveness of sport, while Toy encouraged everyone to work together, before the players interacted with student on stage with a game of paper scissors rock, which amused the entire school who had turned out to see the assembly.
SUNS TV were there to capture the visit.
