CARLTON’S Jarrad Waite will miss Saturday’s match against the Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium.

The 162-game club stalwart trained with the Blues yesterday, but has been unable to overcome a pestering knee injury sustained in their Round 15 clash against Collingwood earlier this month.

Carlton’s General Manager of Football Andrew McKay confirmed Waite’s injury status.

"Jarrad is travelling quite well. It's his first week back at training after he bruised his knee – that bone bruising which was going to be quite sore and take some time to heal."

"He'll be out for another two weeks at this stage. We need him to train fully and have no pain in that knee to enable him to play."

It’s a bitter blow for Guy McKenna’s coaching counterpart Mick Malthouse, the three-time Premiership coach now forced to explore other forward options in a bid to ensure the Gold Coaster’s don’t record back-to-back victories for the second time this year.
