It’s been said before. Fans and members make a club.

Without the unwavering support of the local community there is no doubt the Gold Coast SUNS wouldn’t be where they are today.

Speaking with SUNS TV after putting pen to paper to lock in another two years on the Coast, Tom Lynch noted the role the fans had played in building the Gold Coast’s AFL team over the past five seasons.

“The fans have been great - they’ve really stuck behind us,” said he.

“We know the community of Gold Coast is behind us and wanting us to do well and without them we wouldn’t be here.”

Although Queensland isn’t seen as a traditional state for Australian Rules, the game is celebrating 150 years in 2016. Participation rates continue to grow and the game is taking over the minds, and hearts, of Queenslanders throughout the state.

The SUNS pride themselves on bringing AFL to the Gold Coast through a unique game day experience.

“It’s a great stadium we’ve got here when they all come along and pack it out and their support has been amazing,” Lynch said.
