A growing injury list within Metricon Stadium has ravaged the Gold Coast SUNS NEAFL team, with the reserves set to field only ten listed players in this Saturday’s curtain raiser against the Giants at Spotless Stadium.

Gold Coast will feature five top-ups from the Southport Sharks and seven members of the SUNS Academy, making this week’s task a challenging one according to NEAFL coach Stephen Daniel but one his side will embrace.

“We see it as another challenge but we embrace challenge,” Daniel told goldcoastfc.com.au.

“But we look forward to our development. We also look forward to the component of development which is winning.”

The two sides met just three weeks ago when the SUNS defeated the Giants by 24 points in Townsville, led by three goals from Jarrod Garlett and a strong defensive effort from Henry Schade and Jack Leslie.

The match is an important one for both sides, with the Giants and SUNS both bringing a 2-3 record into this game. Gold Coast sits just inside the top six on percentage and will consolidate its position with a win.
