The Gold Coast SUNS have secured a gritty VFL win in tough conditions at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The SUNS were forced to work hard in the wet, opening up breathing room in the final quarter to earn a 12.8 (80) to 6.10 (46) win over Frankston.
The margin never swung beyond 12 points in either direction before the SUNS kicked the game’s final six goals, including two each in that run from Ned Moyle and a pair of long-range majors from youngster Lachlan Gulbin.
Moyle was enormous in the middle, finishing with 70 hitouts, 12 clearances and two goals.
He was one of five multiple goalkickers for the SUNS alongside Gulbin, Levi Casboult, Ethan Read and Will Rowlands.
Rory Atkins led all comes with 30 disposals while Brayden Fiorini was strong defensively, laying a game-high 11 tackles.
The win elevates the SUNS into the VFL’s top eight for at least the next 24 hours.
Next up is a return to People First Stadium to face fellow finals contender Williamstown next Saturday morning.
