Gold Coast SUNS midfielder Georgia Clayden shared her excitement in signing a two-year contract extension, keeping her at the club until the end of 2026.
“From the minute I got to the Gold Coast, I loved it—this group and this club. It’s exciting to lock in another two years,” Clayden said.
Clayden reflected on the team’s breakthrough win last weekend against Sydney also touching on the tough season, and the resilience of the group.
“Getting a win on the board has been exciting; it has been a tough season,” Clayden said.
“We had a really good preseason and were really fluid, but a lot of our games have been really close—we’ve been within a goal or two, so it’s been tough not to come out on top.”
Reflecting on the team’s win last Saturday against the Swans, Clayden mentioned the team’s perseverance.
“It was really good after the weekend to come out on top,” Clayden said.
“I think we have come really close together over this season, and to be down with three minutes to go and to come back and win really says a lot.”
Clayden and the SUNS are focused on the remainder of the season, starting with this weekend’s clash against Yartapuulti during Indigenous Round.
“We’re focused on the last two games and really honing in on our belief and what we can do. We know we can match the top teams, so we can definitely match Yartapuulti.” Clayden said.
The SUNS will play at People First Stadium for the final time in 2024 this Saturday, October 26th against Yartapuulti.Gates will open from 1pm (AEST) and the game begins at 3:05pm. Catch all the action on Kayo, Fox Footy and 7mate.
