Season recap:

Touk Miller had an excellent year in 2018, playing all 22 games and finishing the year at the top of the disposal and tackles tallies for the SUNS. Miller played pretty much his entire year in the midfield but was used in multiple roles, including a couple of star cameos in a run-with role.

Miller was once again in the leadership group this season and is part of a core group of emerging young leaders set to drive the club forward. He set high standards at training and showed why he can be an elite player during matches. His strong season saw him named in the 22Under22 squad.

Best performances:

Arguably his best performance was in QClash15 when he completely shut down then Lions vice-captain Dayne Zorko. In QClash16 he played a similar role and while Zorko found more of the ball in that match, Miller was still able to have a big impact on the match. Miller had a season-high 33 disposals and six rebound 50s in the match against Collingwood.

Moment of the season:

Who can forget his game-saving smother in the dying minutes of QClash15. Miller put his body on the line to get the result for the team and deservedly won the Marcus Ashcroft medal for best on ground.

What’s next?:

At 22-years-old, Miller is only just getting started in his career. He has ambitions to develop into an elite midfielder and is well on his way to achieving that goal, but needs to be consistent in 2019. His leadership is always growing and he will have more opportunities next season to develop those skills further.

From the coach:

Touk’s had his best season of his career in 2018 and it was fitting he finished second in the Club Champion. He lives and breathes the values we want to be known for as a club and is one of our most important young leaders. Touk played the majority of his season in the midfield, including a couple of run-with roles on some of the competition’s best midfielders. We see a bright future for Touk with the SUNS and expect him to be a crucial member of the team next year. He gives everything to the team each week and is a great role model all year long.”
