Saturday’s game in Ballarat was an arm-wrestle for the majority before the Western Bulldogs were able to get away late in the game to record a nine-point victory.
When Stuart Dew and Luke Beveridge handed out the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year votes for round seven, Callum Ah Chee was the solitary SUN to poll.
Playing his first game of the season, Ah Chee lined up across half back and his intercept marking was notable.
In windy conditions, his 17 disposals went at 82% efficiency which proved important for the SUNS as they moved the ball out of defence.
The competition overall is led by Fremantle captain Nat Fyfe, who scored a perfect ten on the weekend, and Hawthorn ball-magnet Tom Mitchell, who sit on 38 points.
