The Brisbane Lions have continued their impressive run of form in the NEAFL, accounting for the SUNS in a QClash curtain raiser at Metricon Stadium.

The Lions jumped out of the gates early with a five-goal opening term which proved too much for the SUNS to overcome, running out 9.8 (62) to 24.15 (159) winners.

Sam Day impressed at the back end of the first half with a pair of set shot goals from beyond the 50m arc and finished with three goals for the day.

Aaron Young was perhaps the best SUN afield with 40 disposals, nine marks and nine tackles.

He was supported by Josh Schoenfeld in the midfield and Jacob Dawson off half-back who finished with 23 and 30 disposals respectively.

Ben King impressed up forward with good leading patterns, hauling in eight marks and showing off his athleticism to kick an impressive goal through traffic in the third quarter.

Brad Scheer was also prominent in the first half but left the field in the third quarter with a wrist complaint and did not return.

For the Lions, it was Ryan Bastinac and Corey Lyons who did the damage in the middle, while Ben Keays and Sam Skinner combined for eight goals in the forward line.

The SUNS will regroup and prepare for next weekend’s NEAFL match against the NT Thunder in Darwin.
