What it means for Carlton: The Blues would like to finish the season as strongly as possible under caretaker coach David Teague. Victory on Saturday would move them above the Demons on the ladder, at least momentarily.
What it means for Gold Coast: The SUNS have a great opportunity to snap their losing streak against the Blues on Saturday. After two poor performances against Richmond and the Crows, Gold Coast will be keen to make an emphatic response.
The stat: The two sides last met in Round 4 this year in an arm-wrestle at Metricon Stadium. It was hard to split the two sides, but a last-minute goal to Jack Bowes sealed the two-point win for the SUNS at home. Bowes won’t be out there this time, but Gold Coast might need another hero to step up if the game is still alive late in the fourth quarter.
The match-up: Matthew Kreuzer v Jarrod Witts
Kreuzer had his way against a depleted Swans ruck division last week, helping the Blues midfielders feast out of the middle to win the clearance count 45-32. He'll face an entirely different challenge on Saturday, coming up against the brute strength and power of Witts.
It's a big week for: David Swallow
The club's co-captain has been outstanding this year and will be desperate to help turn the tide for the SUNS. He's been in fine form this season, but will face an almighty challenge against Patrick Cripps on Saturday. Look for Swallow to stamp his authority on the contest.
Big call: Another tight contest between the two sides with the game to still be alive in the final minute.
