EXPERIENCED trio Steven May, Aaron Hall and Aaron Young are set for a stint on the sidelines after a horror return to Metricon Stadium for Gold Coast.

All three players will be scanned for the severity of their problems in the coming days, with a full Injury Update to be released on goldcoastfc.com.au on Tuesday. 

Captain May has a high ankle injury, Young an ankle and Hall either a pectoral or bicep tendon problem.

Solemn coach Stuart Dew wasn't confident about any of the trio post-match, but will await more information from medical staff in the coming days. 

"Youngy, ankle and like all he'll have to get a scan … he just could not change direction," Dew said.

"Maysie went to jump, stepped on someone, so he's a high ankle, lower leg, which didn't look great.

"When I heard high ankle, I didn't like the sound of that.

"Sometimes when they're warm it's hard to pinpoint where that pain is, but you'd rather hear lower ankle than high.

"Hally is either a pec or bicep tendon, which isn't great news."

Hall was the first Sun to fall by the wayside, injuring himself attempting to tackle Geelong skipper Joel Selwood early in the second quarter.

Young was unavailable from early in the third, while May limped off late in the match and immediately iced the lower half of his left leg.

May's fellow co-captain Tom Lynch has just returned from missing three matches with a knee problem, while Pearce Hanley (shoulder), Tom Nicholls (shoulder) and Darcy MacPherson (ankle) will all miss at least half the season.
