Jack Bowes is set for an a stint on the sidelines after injuring his quad in the loss to St Kilda on Saturday night.
Bowes left the field towards the end of the third quarter and did not return.
“Unfortunately he sustained a quad injury and that will result in about a three to four-week rehabilitation period,” GM – Football Operations, Jon Haines, told the Alpha Sport Injury Update.
“Jack’s shown great resilience throughout the year for a second-year player so we’re really pleased with how he’s been able to tackle the first half of the year.
“There is an element of upside in the sense that it gives Jack a bit of a break and an opportunity to really get that rehab right and attack the latter half of the season.”
Midfielder Aaron Hall has also been ruled out for the remainder of the season after further medical consultation.
“Unfortunately for Aaron Hall, the pec injury that he sustained a few weeks ago has ruled him out for the rest of the year so Aaron will commence his rehabilitation shortly and set himself up for hopefully a really strong pre-season,” Haines said.
Michael Barlow is still recovering from the jaw fracture he sustained in the NEAFL match against Southport two weeks ago and does not have a return date set.
“Michael Barlow has had some reasonably significant surgery to his jaw following an injury a couple of weeks ago so we’re still waiting for the result of that surgery to settle down a little bit before we have a definitive return to play,” Haines said.
“But (we’re) really confident it’s not going to be too long and Michael’s got a terrific attitude with that and can’t wait to get back to start playing again soon.”
Jack Scrimshaw is a test for this week, recovering well from a head knock which took place in the NEAFL match against the GIANTS last week, while Kade Kolodjashnij has also shown positive signs in his own concussion recovery.
“Jack Scrimshaw and Kade Kolodjashnij both will undertake the appropriate concussion protocol testing this week and subject to them both getting through that then they’ll both be available to play and available for selection,” Haines said.
In positive news, Jesse Lonergan looks set to make his return from a hamstring injury in the NEAFL this weekend.
“Jesse Lonergan has completed his rehab program from a hamstring injury and subject to him getting through training this week he’ll be available for selection and potentially play NEAFL on some limited game time,” Haines said.
