When it comes to a football player like Sean Lemmens, you know exactly what you’re going to get.
The South Australian is a hard, tough, no-frills defender, often assigned lock down roles on some of the competition’s most dangerous small forwards. Lemmens follows coaches’ instructions to the letter with minimal fuss and his effort and attack on the footy never wavers, regardless of the game’s circumstances.
Against the Brisbane Lions this Saturday night at Metricon Stadium, Lemmens will reach the 50-game milestone at the start of his fourth season at AFL level.

Selected with pick No. 27 in the 2013 National Draft, the Port Adelaide product earned a round one debut in his first season and emerged as a major surprise packet for the SUNS, perhaps unlucky not to earn a Rising Star nomination that year.
Not only did he perform shutdown jobs on Jack Billings and Lindsay Thomas throughout the season, Lemmens demonstrated his versatility with two goals against Essendon playing across half-forward and collecting a career-high 22 disposals in a loss to Carlton late in the season.
But arguably the highlight was his first QClash in round three, where Lemmens had 16 touches and booted one of the most memorable maiden goals in AFL history that earned him a ‘Candyman’ nickname.
The fearless defender has proved himself as a solid contributor over the last three years and will be looking for a strong start to his 2017 campaign after playing just three games in the back half of last season.
If Lemmens can replicate some of the magic from QClash8 whilst keeping talented forwards Lewis Taylor and Dayne Zorko in check, it will go a long way towards the SUNS taking home four premiership points.
