Gold Coast Talent Academy graduate Brad Scheer will make his AFL debut this Saturday against Geelong.
It’s fitting Scheer’s debut comes this week- he was taken at No.67 in last year’s national draft as an academy selection when Gold Coast matched Geelong’s bid.
The Palm Beach Currumbin local becomes the third Academy graduate to pull on the red and gold, alongside 2015 success story Jesse Joyce and 2016 top 10 draft pick Jack Bowes.

Scheer will no doubt be hoping to emulate the form achieved by his fellow Academy alumni, who have both become integral members of the Gold Coast SUNS family.
A solidly-built inside midfielder, the 18-year-old also has the ability to shift forward and kick goals.
He averaged 25 disposals in last year’s NAB AFL U18 championships, and earned a NEAFL Rising Star nomination in his first game for the SUNS’ NEAFL team, following his 27 touches and eight-inside 50s against the Brisbane Lions reserves in round 15.
Scheer was struck down with pneumonia early in the JLT Community Series, causing a set-back to his pre-season campaign.

But his determination to earn a senior call-up stimulated him to produce consistent performances week on week in the NEAFL, building both his fitness and skill level with admirable results.
Through the opening five rounds of the NEAFL, Scheer has averaged 20 disposals and five tackles per game and his name has continuously been in Gold Coast’s best.
The Gold Coast local signed a contract extension earlier in 2017, securing his future at the SUNS until at least 2019.
