Freshly appointed Gold Coast SUNS Chief Executive Mark Evans has labelled his new role at the club as a ‘great opportunity’ and believes the organisation is ready to launch itself to the next level.

While the former General Manager of Football Operations at the AFL is well aware he’ll face some difficult obstacles along the way, he believes with the right people at his disposal the SUNS will be able to achieve sustainable success.

“For me the secret recipe is not that secret,” Evans told reporters at SUNS headquarters on Tuesday morning.

“It’s get some great people, establish great culture, have really good strategies and smart decision-making, unbelievable, impeccable execution and do that time and time again and then success follows.

“Gold Coast are on that journey already and I look forward to being at the helm when we can really say that we’ve achieved something.

“People have to understand that the Gold Coast SUNS Football Club is not just based to say that you’re at that frontier. It actually has to become a place where it establishes real power in this community and nationally and tries to achieve good things and that will be as a business and that will certainly be on the football field.

“All I say to all those people who already follow the SUNS and for all of those people that we’re chasing is it’s going to be a tough road, make no mistake about that. We mean business and let’s get on with it.”
