Assistant Coach Andy Lovell has applauded the equal nature of the AFL competition, reinforcing that when any team crosses the white line the opportunity to win is always in reach.
Speaking to media on Monday, Lovell said the SUNS’ round ten match against Melbourne in Alice Springs was an opportunity for redemption.
“If we can get those key areas of the game that we need to get right, then we’re a massive chance to win,” he said.
“Every game you play you’re a chance to win given how even the competition is.

The SUNS have returned from the bye, hitting the training track once again last Saturday following an in-depth review of the round eight match in Shanghai.
“The mindsets been good. To the player’s credit, they and we as the coaches had to own the performance in Shangahi, it wasn’t good enough.”
“Our player group came back knowing we’ve got some work to do this week,” he said.
“It’s been quite easy to motivate them, they are looking forward to the game [ round ten].”
Round ten signifies the AFL’s Sir Doug Nicholls Indigenous Round, which will see Gold Coast travel to Alice Springs to take on Melbourne.

“It’s a really special round on the calendar,” Lovell said.
“[To] represent our culture and our club is a great opportunity.
“They [SUNS players] are all obviously incredibly proud of their heritage and the fact they represent the Gold Coast SUNS.”
