A win over the Eagles last weekend, a strong NEAFL performance and an almost non-existent injury list will pose a different challenge for the SUNS’ Match Committee as the team prepare to take on Hawthorn this Saturday.

At least one change to the team will be made, with Jarrod Harbrow to miss as a result of a club imposed suspension.

A number of players are likely to come under consideration to replace the defender, with Rory Thompson a chance to return for his first game since round three should Rodney Eade change his stance on playing three tall defenders.

Youngster Jack Bowes has spent a majority of his time in defence this year and would provide similar rebound off half back to Harbow.

Brayden Fiorini was named as the first emergency last week and is another with clean disposal and good decision-making who could possibly slot into defence.

Inside midfielder Jesse Lonergan and wingman Matt Shaw were again named in the best for the NEAFL team at the weekend as they try to force their way into a strong Gold Coast midfield.

Draftee Ben Ainsworth returned from a long injury layoff and showed glimpses of his ability. Whether he has done enough to prove his match fitness for AFL level will need to be debated by the Match Committee.

As confirmed in the Optomo Injury Report, young forward Callum Ah Chee has worked his way back into selection contention. He was in good form prior to suffering a back injury and could offer another avenue to goal this weekend.
