Rory Thompson remains firmly in contention to make his return to AFL football, with the Gold Coast full back named to feature against Port Adelaide in Sunday’s history-making round eight match at Jiangwan Sports Centre in Shanghai.
As expected, Thompson was named in the extended 25-man squad after it was confirmed on goldcoastfc.com.au he boarded the Singapore Airlines flight alongside his teammates, passing a preliminary fitness test earlier this week.
Gold Coast touched down in Shanghai in the early hours of Thursday morning (AEST), with the joint captains/coach press conference in promotion of the ground-breaking AFL fixture held later that day.
Brayden Fiorini, Matt Shaw, Keegan Brooksby, Jack Bowes & Josh Schoenfeld join Thompson in the extended squad.
Revealed in this week’s Optomo Injury Report, wingman Matt Rosa (concussion), David Swallow (knee) and Ah Chee (back) would all miss due to injury.
