Richmond’s Alex Rance is arguably the best defender in the business, coming off an All-Australian year in 2015 where he took home the Tigers coveted Jack Dyer medal.

The 26-year-old knows what makes a quality key forward, and what it takes to stop them, and was full of praise for SUNS vice-captain Tom Lynch ahead of the two sides meeting at the MCG this Sunday.

“He’s a fantastic athlete, has a massive tank for a big guy, he’s got really good hands, and is a good competitor,” Rance said.

“I’d almost go so far as to say he’d be probably the number one forward in the comp at the moment. Number one or two.

“They’ve also got big two-metre Peter (Wright). He’s actually their number one target over the last four weeks.

“I think Dave Astbury and I will probably chop and change between the two talls because they’re both as potent as each other. But I’ll probably take big Tom.”

Lynch has booted 35 goals in 11 games, sitting third in the Coleman Medal race in 2016 behind Lance Franklin and 2015 winner Josh Kennedy.
