Gold Coast senior coach Rodney Eade has every right to be torn ahead of this Saturday’s AFL Grand Final with two of his former sides running out onto the famous MCG on the first Saturday in October.

Eade started his AFL coaching journey at Sydney in 1996, calling the shots for the Swans on 152 occasions for 81 wins.

The veteran mentor then went to the Whitten Oval where he coached the Western Bulldogs between 2005 and 2011, leading them to three preliminary finals but failing to reach the big dance.

The Bulldogs have stunned the football world to break their 55-year Grand Final drought this Saturday and Eade is leaning towards supporting the boys from the Kennel over the Swans.

“I think you probably lean a bit more towards the Doggies,” Eade said on Melbourne’s SEN Radio.

“Had a great affiliation with the supporters there, they were terrific people and obviously have been starved of success.

“You know a lot of the staff are still there and you know what it means to them and players and coach so I think it would be great if they could win.”

However, Eade believes the team which takes their chances on the biggest stage will be the ones holding up the premiership cup on Saturday evening.

"I think either team has got to take their chances when they present. It’s no good kicking 8.12, you’ve got to kick 12.8 or 15.5 like Sydney were able to do last week,” he said.

"If you can take your chances, and there’s not going to be many for either team, whoever can take them I think they’re going to win on the day."
